My great host Ian and friend Scott caught the train from Glenbrook back up the line to start at Springwood.

Leaving at 7am it was a jewel of a day walking backroads via the convict cut Mitchell Pass through the last section of the lower Blue Mountains.

Over old convict roads and bridges we passed until we hit the sprawling suburbs of Sydney in Emu Plains and Penrith.

I quickly mourned the countryside and bush that was behind me as I turned homeward bound.
