As Zoe’s coach sped past me on the highway, I met up with a good mate from Annandale.

Chris and I enjoyed a backroad route to ‘The Wang’ as it’s called, an old coal mining town with smelter.

With few cars, dirt roads and magic weather, we enjoyed one of the most peaceful and scenic legs of the trip together. Staying at the Black Gold (coal) hotel we indulged in the rich offerings of the local Royal Hotel.
